Business Execs Increasingly Choose LinkedIn, Poll Finds

LinkedIn increasingly is becoming the social network for business executives, according to a report by the Society for New Communications Research. It polled 114 executives across 10 countries and found that 97 percent in 2010 used LinkedIn, compared with 92 percent in 2009, reports InformationWeek. Meanwhile, use of Twitter dropped to 33 percent from 40 percent the previous year and use of Facebook fell to 20 percent from 50 percent in 2009. Hundreds of other social networks also were mentioned in small numbers. The executives, most of the key decision-makers in their companies, participated on average in three to five professional networks. They’re primarily looking for “thought-leadership content,” something LinkedIn is focusing on with its LinkedIn Today news service.
