Indian firms confident of thwarting cyber threats: Survey

Indian companies are confident in dealing with external cyber threats, but at the same time they apprehend breach within the system, a survey by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India shows. The survey said, “Almost half of respondents experienced at least one internal security breach during the past one year in their organisations.”

“While organisations have taken a step in the right direction by reinforcing budgets towards information security, strategies undertaken may still be inadequate to fill the gaps,” Sundeep Nehra, senior director, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India, said.

He added that companies are now trying to spend on information security wisely. According to the survey, nearly 32 per cent of the respondents believe that their information security professionals are missing competencies, while 44 per cent believe that they are falling behind in dealing with threats. Only 23 per cent were comfortable with the information security practices of their vendors.
